Redditch, Worcestershire twinned with Auxerre, Burgundy. The Friends of Auxerre (FoA) |
We have an active Social Calendar, and arrange events, usually held monthly, be it a French Film, Quiz, Wine tasting evening, Barn / Line Dancing or a game of Pétanque(see below).
We try to keep costs down by having American Suppers, though we do sometimes visit local restaurants for a meal.
The aims are dual purpose, to provide a social focus for the membership, and to raise funds for looking after our guests from Auxerre.
The Social Events are open to non-members and the Social Committee is always looking
for new ideas of what to do, so if you have any suggestions you will be welcomed
with open arms.
We look forward to meeting you at one of these events.
We produce a bi-monthly Newsletter to keep us all informed of the various functions, dates, costs and venues. Our editors always welcome any comments or stories about your visits to France, any events which happened to you, amusing or otherwise.
The FoA was fortunate in 2010 in securing a Grant from Severn Waste Environmental Fund to
build a Pétanque Court at the Cricket, Hockey & Rugby Football Club in Bromsgrove Road.
We are holding practice sessions at the Club, weather permitting, at 11.00hrs on Wednesdays & Sundays, starting end of March.
Please join us either to play - or learn how to play - the game of Pétanque.
We also intend to hold competitions with our neighbouring Twinning Societies and our French visitors when they come to Redditch.
Ring John Chandler on 01527 527237 for more information on how to join.
